Pen of Three Show


The Pen of Three Show is for commercial cattle producers to show the quality of their breeding program. Producers should choose three animals that are uniform in size, muscle development, and structurally correct.

Registration: August 22nd, 2024 from 8am-9:30am

  • Steer Calves
  • Bred Heifers
  • Bull Calves

Entry Fee:$40 per pen
Entries are limited to two pens per division, per consignor.

Entry forms can be emailed to paige@blackhillsstockshow.com or mailed to the Central States Fair Office. The address is 800 San Francisco St, Rapid City, SD 57701.

Show Rules:

  • Weights will be taken upon arrival and classes will be determined by that weight. No breed classification represented in each division.
  • Continental and British breeds will be shown together if three or more pens of continental cattle are not represented in each division.
  • Purebred entries will be classed and judged with commercial steers, heifers and bulls.
  • No fitting, clipping or washing animals is allowed.
  • Exhibitors must provide feed for the cattle at the show. Bedding is provided and water is accessible.
  • All calf divisions (bulls, heifers and steers) must be born after January 1, 2024.
  • Health Requirements: All cattle, including exhibit animals, must be accompanied by a proper health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian within 30 days of the Pen Show. Health certificates must be presented at weigh-in. Health certificates will be retained by the show secretary. All livestock must comply with the SDCL 40-3-14 health regulations.
  • Central States Fair, Inc.’s management and livestock committee reserves the right to final and absolute decision regarding any issue involving the livestock show. Final and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations and the right to settle and determine all matters, questions or differences in regard hereto, or otherwise arising out of, or connected with, or incidental to, the event.
  • Central States Fair, Inc. of anyone helping with the show assumes no responsibility for accident or injury. Personnel will not be responsible for any injury or loss of any animal or accident thereby.

Stalling

Pens will be available Wednesday, August 21 after 6pm. Cattle must be penned by 9:30am on Thursday, August 22.
