RULES & GUIDELINES

  • Each model must be completed by the modeler.
  • The addition of aftermarket parts is permitted.
  • Models may be entered as a judged or no judge model. Any model that is to be judged may not have been entered in any previous year.
  • Models will be judged for skill in construction, finish, realism, and scope of effort; accuracy may be used as criteria for determining final ranking for similar model subjects.
  • Skill in Construction: Judges assess the quality of the model's assembly, including fit, alignment, and overall craftsmanship. Attention to detail and precision matter here.
  • Finish: The finish refers to the quality of the paintwork, decals, weathering, and any other surface treatments. Judges look for smooth finishes, accurate colors, and realistic effects.
  • Realism: Models are evaluated based on how closely they resemble the real-life subject.
  • This includes proportions, scale accuracy, and overall realism.
  • Scope of Effort: Judges consider the complexity of the model. More intricate builds or challenging techniques may receive higher scores.
  • Accuracy: While accuracy is not the sole criterion, it can impact the final ranking, especially for similar model subjects. Models that accurately represent historical or real-world vehicles, aircraft, ships, etc., receive recognition.
